At Infopath Academy, entrance assessment and placement are important parts of the admission process. They help the school understand each learner’s academic readiness, confidence level, learning needs, and suitability for the class being applied for.
The purpose of the assessment is not to intimidate learners. It is to help the school make a fair and informed decision so that every admitted child is placed where they can learn successfully and grow confidently.
Why We Conduct Entrance Assessment
Infopath Academy conducts entrance assessment and placement review to:
- Understand the learner’s academic level
- Confirm readiness for the class applied for
- Identify strengths and learning gaps
- Support appropriate class placement
- Guide teachers on learner support needs
- Promote fairness in the admission process
- Ensure that each learner can cope with the expected class work
The assessment process helps us protect the academic interest of the child and maintain the school’s learning standards.
Who May Be Required to Take the Assessment?
Applicants into Primary, Junior Secondary, and Senior Secondary classes may be required to take an entrance assessment or placement review.
For Early Years applicants, the school may use simple interaction, observation, communication checks, social readiness review, or age-appropriate activities instead of formal written assessment.
Assessment Areas
Depending on the class applied for, the entrance assessment may cover areas such as:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Reading and comprehension
- Basic Science or General Knowledge
- Writing skills
- Logical reasoning
- Age-appropriate oral interaction
- Previous academic knowledge
For higher classes, the assessment may also include subject-based questions that reflect the learner’s expected academic level.
Early Years Placement Review
For Early Years applicants, the placement review is warm, simple, and child-friendly. The school may observe the child’s ability to interact, listen, identify basic objects, respond to instructions, recognise sounds or numbers, and participate in simple learning activities.
The goal is to understand the child’s readiness for school routines and early learning, not to put pressure on the child.
Primary School Assessment
Applicants into Primary classes may be assessed in literacy, numeracy, reading ability, handwriting, basic reasoning, communication, and general learning readiness.
This helps the school determine whether the learner can cope with the selected class or whether additional support may be needed.
Junior Secondary Assessment
Applicants into Junior Secondary classes may be assessed in English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science, general reasoning, and other relevant areas.
The assessment helps confirm readiness for broader subject-based learning and stronger academic responsibility.
Senior Secondary Assessment
Applicants into Senior Secondary classes may be assessed more carefully because this level prepares students for external examinations, higher education, and future career pathways.
The school may review the student’s previous academic performance, subject strengths, intended pathway, examination readiness, and maturity level.
Placement Decision
After the assessment, the Admissions Office reviews the applicant’s performance alongside other admission information. This may include age, previous class, previous school record, class capacity, and general readiness.
Based on the review, the school may:
- Approve the applicant for the class applied for
- Recommend a more suitable class placement
- Request additional academic support
- Invite the parent or guardian for discussion
- Place the application on hold pending document or payment confirmation
- Decline the application where necessary
A placement decision is made in the best interest of the learner and the academic standard of the school.
Assessment Conduct
Applicants are expected to:
- Arrive on time for the assessment
- Come with required writing materials
- Dress neatly and appropriately
- Follow instructions from school staff
- Attempt all questions honestly
- Remain calm and confident
Parents are encouraged to prepare their children positively and avoid putting unnecessary pressure on them.
What Parents Should Bring
Parents or guardians may be asked to come with:
- Application number or reference
- Evidence of application payment where applicable
- Birth certificate or age declaration
- Previous school result or transcript
- Passport photograph
- Any document requested by the Admissions Office
- Assessment Result and Feedback
The school may communicate the outcome of the assessment through the official admission communication channel. Parents may be informed about the applicant’s admission status, recommended class placement, required documents, payment steps, or next admission action.
Where necessary, the school may provide guidance on areas where the learner needs support.
